TECT Park

TECT Park is a unique and award-winning outdoor playground located between Tauranga and Rotorua in the Western Bay of Plenty. Spanning 1,650 hectares, the park offers a huge variety of activitiesβ€”from walking and mountain biking to shooting, paintball, motocross, and more. Managed jointly by the Western Bay of Plenty District Council and Tauranga City Council, the park is a space for everyone to explore and enjoy.

Since its opening in 2010, TECT Park has proudly flown the Green Flag Award, an international recognition for well-managed and accessible green spaces. It was also voted one of the Top 10 International People’s Choice parks in 2022.

🐎 Equestrian Facilities at TECT Park

TECT Park is home to excellent public equestrian facilities located in the north-western corner of the park. Whether you're after a relaxed hack through the bush or a base for a group ride, this area is well-equipped and open to all riders.

Facilities include:

  • Horse pens in a gated parking area

  • A large shelter and picnic table

  • Round yard

  • Water for horses

  • On-site toilet

  • Approximately 20–25 km of dedicated horse trails

These trails wind through beautiful forest and open land, offering a safe and scenic riding experience. Perfect for individuals, groups, or day trips with your horse.

Getting There

From the main entrance, turn left onto Weld Road, then right at Adrenalin Forest onto Te Ara O Raho Road. Follow this until it connects with Mangakopikopiko Roadβ€”the equestrian area is at the start of this road.
