About our great club!

Established in 1959, Established in 1959, our club is a proud founding member of the Wellington Central League. Our home ground, located at  Richard Prouse Park on Hine Road, features well-equipped facilities, including clubrooms that have been at the heart of our community since 1968. From the very beginning, we have been committed to developing football talent while fostering a strong sense of community both on and off the field.

Our Teams and Players

We are proud to have over 400 members who make up our football family. The club fields seven senior men’s teams and one women’s team, with our Men's First Team competing in Central League 2 for the 2026 season.

We also boast a thriving youth programme, with more than 250 juniors participating across all levels—from first kicks through to junior and youth teams. We take great pride in providing a clear development pathway, supporting players as they progress from grassroots football to the senior game.

About Wainuiomata Association Football Club

Established in 1959, Wainuiomata Association Football Club is a proud founding member of the Wellington Central League. Our home ground is the well-equipped Richard Prouse Park, located on Hine Road, where our clubrooms were built in 1968. Since our inception, we’ve been dedicated to fostering football talent and community spirit at all levels of the game.

Our Teams and Players

Currently, Wainuiomata AFC fields eight senior men’s teams, with our 1st team competing in the Premier League for 2025. We also have a women's team competing in Capital 3 after being promoted from Capital 4 halfway through 2025.

We boast a thriving youth program, with over 300 juniors participating, ranging from first kicks to junior and youth teams. Our club is proud of the pathway we offer for players to develop their skills, from grassroots to senior levels.

Notable Players

Over the years, Wainuiomata AFC has produced several players who have gone on to represent New Zealand at various levels. Some of our notable alumni include:

  • Dave Houghton (1969 tour to Israel)
  • Grant Turner (1982 FIFA World Cup member)

  • John Enoka
  • Brooke Neary ( Women's U17 world cup 2024 - Part of the Women's Phoenix A-League team)

Club Highlights

We’re proud of our club's history and achievements, including:

  • Gaining promotion to Central Leaugue 2 for 2026.
  • Winning the Capital Premier League in 2020 and securing a spot in the National League/Central League for 2021 after a thrilling playoff victory.
  • Winning Central League 3 in 1995.
