Key Principles of the NZF Code of Conduct:
- Respect and Fairness: Treat all participants equally regardless of gender, disability, ethnicity, or religion, and uphold fair play.
- Safety and Welfare: Ensure a safe environment, particularly for children and vulnerable adults, including complying with police vetting where required.
- Conduct and Behavior: Respect officials' decisions, control tempers, and avoid verbal or physical abuse.
- Integrity: Adhere to anti-doping policies and avoid taking unfair advantage.
- Responsibility: Accept responsibility for actions and behavior, including compliance with club, federation, and national rules.
Key Obligations by Role:
- Players: Play by the rules, act sportsman-like, and respect opponents and officials.
- Coaches: Provide a safe environment, focus on player development, and act professionally.
- Parents/Guardians: Encourage, not force, participation, treat officials with respect, and focus on enjoyment over winning.
Breaches and Consequences:Violations of the Code of Conduct can lead to disciplinary action under NZF Statutes, Regulations, and Policies, which may result in penalties, including suspension from matches or being banned from sports activities. Complaints are generally handled by the respective local federation or club, with serious issues escalated to NZF.
