Registration Information

Before submitting the registration form(s) for any sports, please ensure you read and note the following important information.

Commitment:

  • Team sports offered will be subject to achieving the minimum team numbers and having the required team staffing e.g. Manager, Coach, Umpires, Duty team etc.
  • Without parent volunteers to manage and/or coach teams, we may be unable to enter teams.  Where possible and appropriate, every effort will be made to source professional coaches.
  • Sport selection(s) must be given careful consideration to ensure that games and/or training times do not clash with other codes or extra-curricular activities e.g. Dance or Drama.  Where there is a clash only one sport/activity must be selected.
  • Difference between Teams and Clubs:
    • Teams participate in seasonal weekly competitions against other schools at various venues. For sports that have a large amount of student interest, trials may be held to select teams.  Involvement is 2-3 days per week.
    • Clubs are located on-site at school and are more social activities/skills training sessions.  Involvement is generally once per week.  Some clubs may offer competitions/tournaments for those who would like to play competitively.
  • Winter sports in Term 2/3:
    • Please be aware that only ACG Tauranga has a three-week term break between Term 2 and Term 3, therefore all/most competitions will have games during the first week of the term break.  Students must be available to play and if families are going away on holiday, they must advise the team manager/coach as soon as this is known.  Students are expected to assist with finding a replacement player, to ensure the team is not short and does not have to default.
  • Summer sports in Term 4:
    • Please be aware that some competitions continue beyond the conclusion of the ACG school year, so students/families must be prepared to play out the full season of games when committing to the team.  As per above, if this is not possible, then students are expected to find a replacement player, to ensure the team is not short and does not have to default.
    • Students participating in exams in Term 4 must also be prepared to commit to every game if they register for sports teams.
We CANNOT default games as a result of insufficient team numbers due to going away on holiday or needing to study for an exam the following day. Whilst we understand these situations, defaulting is unfair and disruptive to coaches/managers, teammates, opponents, and competition organisers.
    • Committing to a team in Term 4 requires planning training/game time into your study/end-of-year family schedule.

Sports Fees:

  • Fees are detailed within each sports page and are an accumulation of some or all of the following: coaching and umpiring costs, competition entry fees, venue costs, a contribution to equipment, and uniform (loan/maintenance/purchase) costs.
  • Fees are charged to your school account upon being placed within a team.
  • If a student withdraws after being placed in a team, families will still be liable for full payment. We must commit to expenses associated with the teams once registrations are completed.
  • Fees could be subject to change based on final/confirmed player numbers, equipment, uniform costs, and coaching costs.  Any increase required will be advised prior to being charged.
  • Teams will have a one-off season fee.
  • Clubs will have termly fees.  Students can have one free 'have a go' session (particularly when it comes to Archery) and should they wish to continue the fee will be charged.
  • Competitions/tournaments are an additional fee.

Uniform:

  • Uniform requirements are detailed within each sport.
  • All uniforms must be returned promptly at the end of the season or charges will be applied to school accounts.

Sports Handbook

Please take the time to read through the Sports Handbook which outlines the necessary guidelines, processes and policies to make participation in sport at ACG Tauranga successful for all involved.
