This area runs south of Mt Te Aroha, the Waipapa Track, Waitawheta Hut, and the Waitengaue Stream Track through to Thompsons Saddle

Two tracks remained closed while a new access route from the Wharawhara Road is created - hopefully this will happen sometime during 2026. These are the Wharawhara Tramway track, and the Te Rereatukahia Hut track from the Wharawhara through to just east of the hut helipad.

Te Rereatukahia Hut can still be accessed from the Tuahu Tracks East and West, and from the Old North South Track from Waiorongomai.
