futureFERNS Coaching & Managing Workshop β Practical & Informative Evening
We warmly invite new and existing coaches and managers to attend an engaging and practical workshop designed to support you throughout the netball season.
This session will cover the basic philosophy of futureFERNS, fundamental netball skills, and provide you with the tools and confidence to run effective trainings and manage game day successfully.
Delivered by our Netball Centre Coach Developers (Facilitators TBC), this workshop ensures consistency across all grades while also allowing time for grade-specific guidance.
π What Will Be Covered?
Across all grades, participants will learn:
How to access futureFERNS coaching resources on Sporty
Guidance on using the NetballSmart Dynamic Warm-Up Resource
Skill Teaching and Development
Grade-Specific Breakout Sessions
After the main session, coaches and managers will split into their respective age grades with their Coach Connector
Game rules and formats specific to their grade
Umpire Rules relevant to their grade
Understanding Coach Lead and Coach with a Whistle requirements (Year 1β4)
Game day management for Managers:
Control room procedures
Registration cards
Scoring App
Code of Conduct expectations
Team umpiring requirements and rules for the season (Year 5β8 only)
Saturday Coaching Meeting requirements (Year 1β4 only)
π Year 3β6 Coaches and Managers will also participate in a practical walkthrough of a 6 v 6 game format to better understand positional play.
π¬ Q&A and Feedback
Weβll finish the evening with an opportunity for questions, discussion, and feedback to ensure everyone leaves feeling supported and prepared for the season ahead.
This is a practical workshop so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
