Club Coach
In addition to our club night junior and parent coaches, we have our own club coach Owen Westerhout.
Owen runs our LHAAC Track Development squad on a Friday and also runs group coaching sessions on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday for athletes aged 7 and up (separate charge applies). He is also able to offer private sessions for one-on-one coaching. Owen specialises in sprint training and also covers middle-distance running, long jump and high jump.
Background
Owen has been privileged to train under three Olympic coaches (Sven Ootjers in The Netherlands, Christine Harrison-Bloomfield in the UK, and Vedja Kamasi in Serbia). The combined knowledge of their mentoring has set him up for his own coaching.
Owen has been coaching in New Zealand for three seasons and in that time his athletes have won 239 Regional (Wellington), 20 National (New Zealand and Australia) and 2 Continental (Oceania) medals.
