Senior Track and Field events are run by the Athletics Wellington Track and Field Committee, and provide the main competition for seniors (15+) and masters throughout the season, held at Newtown Park.

Juniors (generally 12-14 years) are welcome to compete at these meets and we strongly encourage this to gain more competition experience.

Our LHAAC club singlet must be worn at these events and Athletics Wellington generally issue a numbered bib for the season.

Local Wellington Senior Competitions

Entry information for this year’s Senior Track and Field events at Newtown Park Athletics Stadium is on each event page where you can find events, the timetable, and an entry link. Online entry is required.

• Entry to each meet is open to all athletes of college-age and above
• Entry fee will be $8.00 per athlete per meet for those athletes who are financial members of clubs. 

Entries for the Wellington Senior Champs are now open here: https://athleticswellington.org.nz/event/athletics-wellington-senior-open-track-field-championships/ and close on 17 February.

All club relay team entries are managed by the club relay liaison. Watch out for EOI forms for the Wellington Senior Champs and other senior events including the Capital Classic. Please ensure you share your athletes most recent 100m time to enable the selector to compare current form ahead of the meet.

Central Athletics League Teams Competition

The Central Athletics League is a Regional Teams Competition for clubs held annually across three meetings prior to Christmas. All information on the Central Athletics League Teams Competition is HERE. 

NB: Athletes competing throughout the summer can earn selection to the Wellington team to compete at the national track and field championships.
