Club Nights

Club nights are Wednesdays at Hutt Rec from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Our first club night for the 2024/2025 season will be the 16th of October 2024. .  Thanks to investment by Council we now have improved sprinting, jumping and throwing facilities at Hutt Rec.

We encourage, and need, parents to participate on club nights – with nearly 100 children on the park there is certainly plenty to do! Tasks include managing the children, helping to run activities, measuring and generally making sure the athletes are in the right place.

How Club Night works

Each child will be placed in a grade based on their age.

Grade 7 – 15

All children and parents are to meet in front of the gear shed. Children are to line up behind their age group sign. Any notices will be advised by the club captain, and from there, each Age Group Manager will take their group to their initial event. Each age group will complete three events per night.

This season we will be looking to mix club nights with:

  • Club Night Champs
  • The Athletics NZ Run Jump Throw programme - this is designed to teach children athletics skills as a means to improving performance. These skills will build foundations for sprints, longer distances, long jump, high jump, shot put and discus.

Under 7s Grade

All children and parents are to meet in front of the gear shed. Children are to line up behind their age group sign at 6.00pm. This U7 programme is for 5 and 6 year olds and runs for 45 to 50 minutes. This programme is based on the Get Set Go programme, focusing on developing coordination, movement and balance skills, in a fun environment.

Club Night Cancellations

Club night cancellations will be displayed on our Facebook page, and we will also send emails to our members.

We will endeavour to notify club night cancellations by 4pm on the day.

Communication

Regular emails will be sent to you advising of upcoming events and other relevant information.

At the beginning of each club night the club captain will update children and parents with any additional information they need to know. The club also has a Facebook page that is a great way to stay connected.
