2025 saw an improved entry which allowed us to return to the 2 green format and the primary thanks for this go to all the visiting teams from near and far who came to help make it successful.  We sincerely hope you enjoyed the event and hope to see you back in the future.

While 2024 was played in fine but blustery conditions, the 2025 advance weather forecast was for two days of rain which thankfully didn't quite eventuate.  The rain stayed away for play on Monday and so we managed to get the normal 3 games through although I imagine most would have been happier if the wind was also somewhere else as it was challenging, even for the locals.  The early morning forecast for Tuesday showed the promised rain band arriving earlier so a decision was made to play 2 shorter games back to back before stopping for a complimentary luncheon and then prize giving.  The plan almost worked until a few heavy spits turned into a deluge with about 2 ends to play, flooding the greens and bringing play to an early close.

The earlier finish meant a longer wait for the luncheon but it was worth it as Ngaire and her helpers produced an excellent array of food that was very well received by all, as were the sandwiches for  lunch the previous day and the various morning and afternoon teas.

The day 2 raffles were drawn before the tournament prizes were announced, thanks everyone for the generous support of the raffles over both days and it was good to see the prizes distributed amongst the teams.

This tournament was again generously sponsored by Gee & Hickton Porirua and Jenna the Manager was invited to present the prizes at the original time of 4pm.  Unfortunately with the weather driven change in timing, she was unable to attend but we wish to acknowledge and thank them for their continuing support.

In addition to the customary 1st, 2nd and 3rd main prizes, there were also consolation prizes for the remaining teams for the green winners on each day and also lucky teams for each green each day.  This resulted in eleven of the twenty teams collecting a prize.

Six teams finished with 4 wins and a countback of ends was required to decide the place winners from the green winners but first place went to the only team with 4 wins and a draw.  Six of these 7 teams were due to play each other in the washed out final round where the results from the extra game could easily have changed the final order.  Moral of the story, score well while the sun is shining so you're ahead if the rain comes.

While she may feel that winning one of the raffles was thanks enough, Lynda's help with producing the draw and skip's score cards and then controlling play and running the scoring was much appreciated as it took the pressure off the other helpers who were also playing.  Thanks also to Marlene and Dave for manning the bar and keeping everyone refreshed.
