In recent weeks there have been many instances when the club premises have not been left secure when unattended. This has included the main lounge alarm not being set, the lounge foyer door not being locked, the foyer exterior door not being properly closed and the entrance gate not being locked. During this period, we also experienced vandalism and theft with security cameras and speakers being smashed or stolen. We cannot be sure whether this was made easier because the premises were not properly secured.
It is not only the club premises at risk as members' bowls and accessories are stored at the club at their owner's risk, not the club's. Failure to adequately secure the premises may also jeopardise the club's and members' insurance coverage.
All members are welcome and encouraged to use the club's facilities, even into the evening with the advantage of daylight saving. But it is incumbent on ALL members to leave the club premises secure if they are the last ones to leave. If you are unsure whether someone is still playing on green 2, check before leaving. ALWAYS bring your key to the club in case you are the last to leave and need to lockup. If you don't have a key, see a Dave at the bar and they can provide you with one on payment of the $10 deposit and also let David Corner know for the register he is compiling.
Not everyone is familiar with the alarm usage for the lounge so if YOU disarm it when there is no event scheduled, then it is YOUR responsibility to rearm it or ensure that someone remaining is capable of doing it FOR YOU. This includes ensuring the emergency exit is secure and the ranchslider door out to green 1 and doors from the foyer into the lounge and kitchen are locked. It is not appropriate to discuss the alarm procedure here so if you need to know, ask any of the Board or other senior members when at the club and they will be happy to demonstrate.
If you are playing on green 2 and nobody is in the club rooms or playing on green 1, then shut the exterior door to the foyer but DON'T lock your key inside at the same time. Some members do live within walking distance but they may not be available to come to your rescue.
On leaving the club rooms, pull the exterior door shut and check it is secure. Last one to use any equipment from the shed between the greens is to ensure that it is securely locked. Last out through the gate must secure the gate with the padlock and chain. You will need your key to unlock the padlock before using it to lock the two ends of the chain together. You can only remove your key from the padlock if it is locked. If you don't have your key, you will need to leave before the last member present who has theirs.
