COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT:

  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person.
  • Ensure the player’s time spent with you is a positive experience, all players are deserving of equal attention and opportunities.
  • Treat each player as an individual, respect the talent, developmental stage and goals of each individual player and help each player reach their full potential.
  • Be fair, considerate and honest with players.
  • ​​Be professional in and accept punctuality and responsibility for your actions.   Language, manner, preparation and presentation should reflect high standards.  Display control, respect, dignity and professionalism to all involved with the sport.  This includes opponents, coaches, officials, administrators, parents and spectators.  Encourage your players to demonstrate the same qualities.
  • Seek continual improvement through performance appraisal and ongoing coach education.
  • Operate within the rules and spirit of your sport. 
  • Any physical contact with players should be appropriate to the situation and necessary for the player’s skill development or injury related. Understand that your intentions and the players interpretations of touching will be influenced by cultural differences and religious implications.  Be sensitive to the impact of different degrees of interpersonal proximity and be aware that unnecessary touching may offend.
  • Refrain from any form of personal abuse.  Be alert to any forms of abuse directed towards your players from other sources whilst they are in your care.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities meet safety standards.  Equipment needs to be appropriate for the age and ability of the players.
  • Show concern and caution towards sick and injured players.  Provide a modified training programme where appropriate.  Allow further participation in training and competition only when appropriate.  Seek medical advice when required.  Maintain the same interest and support towards sick and injured players.
  • Be a positive role model for netball and players.
