This is Children’s Athletics pinnacle athletic event of the season. Children's athletics does not have a New Zealand Championships, therefore provides both a North and South Island event.

This is an amazing athletic event with approximately 1,500 children taking part.  The event caters for ages 7-14 years. Sponsored by Colgate. You can go to one or both events. Older siblings can join the teenage team of volunteers (by application) and thoroughly enjoy the experience.

Typical Colgate Format

Thursday Afternoon:                     Team Managers Meeting and Club Athlete Pack Allocation

Friday:                                              Early Opening Ceremony

                                                          Competition Day One

Saturday:                                         Competition Day Two

Sunday:                                            Competition Day Three

7 - 9 year old:                    Each race operates as its own final and pennants are given out to the first 3 place getters.

10 - 14 year old:                Heats, semi-finals and finals. Medals are given to top 3 place-getters.

Relays:                                Depending on numbers, each athlete will make themselves available for club relays (4 x 100m and Medley Relays)

Fees

Athletes: There are no pre-entry requirements, but athletes have to pre-register by the 8th November and can pick up to four or five events (age dependent) as outlined on the enrolment form. Each event costs $9.50 to enter. 

Spectators: There is a charge at the gate for spectators, but you can often buy a 3-day pass. You can come and go from the track throughout the day.

Team Manager/s

At the games, it is compulsory to appoint a team manager per 10 athletes. The Bellevue Athletic Club Committee will appoint the managers necessary. It is important to let the team manager know when you arrive and when you leave as they are your representatives for any issue. They have to attend meetings etc and put in protests, withdrawals and scratchings.

Accommodation - Colgate Fundraising Group

Each year our Grants team apply to NZCT for funding for accommodation but only those staying in the group accommodation are eligible to receive from this grant. We are looking into various accommodation possibilities within an easy drive of the track. Further information regarding accommodation as a group will be emailed to our 7-14yr families usually around November/early December.
