Passion Projects

Passion Projects

Every Thursday during Period 5 in Terms 2 and 3, our regular timetable makes way for Passion Projects.

Passion Projects give students the opportunity to explore their interests, try something new, and discover hidden talents. This programme is all about student choice, creativity, curiosity, and giving students ownership of their learning.

Across the two terms, students select two different taster subjects — one in Term 2 and one in Term 3. These subjects give students the chance to experience learning areas they may not usually explore in their day-to-day classes.

Passion Project Options

We offer a diverse and exciting range of options designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

The Arts and Culture Students may explore areas such as drama, dance, digital photography, sketching, visual art, and other creative subjects.

Life Skills and Science Students may take part in learning connected to cooking, horticulture, physics, economics, and other hands-on experiences.

Global Connections and Futures Students may be introduced to world languages, Education for Sustainability, and learning that helps them think about the world around them and their future.

Culture, students

Passion Projects are student-driven. By choosing their own subjects, students take ownership of their learning journey and are encouraged to follow what genuinely interests them.

The programme also creates opportunities for cross-school connection. Students collaborate, create, and learn alongside peers from different year levels and syndicates across the school.

Passion Projects are a special part of life at Ōtāhuhu Intermediate, helping our students grow in confidence, build new skills, connect with others, and discover new passions.
