South West Zones

Our Sports Pathway

Students are selected to represent Ōtāhuhu Intermediate through trials, training, commitment, attitude, and their ability to work positively as part of a team.

Our South West Zone pathway gives students the opportunity to:

  • represent Ōtāhuhu Intermediate with pride
  • compete against other schools in our zone
  • develop their skills and confidence
  • show teamwork, sportsmanship, and resilience
  • progress to Interzones or Auckland Championships if they win or place in the top two

Students who perform strongly at South West Zones may earn the opportunity to compete at a higher level, where they represent our kura against top teams from across Auckland.

Get Involved

We encourage all students to give trials a go, get involved, and make the most of the sporting opportunities available at Ōtāhuhu Intermediate.

Trials and Team Selection

Students who are interested in representing the school are encouraged to attend trials. These trials give students the chance to show their skills, effort, teamwork, and positive attitude.

Coaching and Whānau Support

Our teams are usually coached and managed by our dedicated teachers and teacher aides. We are also always grateful for parent and whānau support. If you are interested in helping with a team, please contact the school.

Zone Days

Students selected for a South West Zone team will attend a full-day competition against other schools in our zone. These days are a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, show sportsmanship, and proudly represent Ōtāhuhu Intermediate.

Auckland Championships

For many sports, teams that place in the top two at the South West Zone competition are invited to compete at the Auckland Championships. This gives our students the exciting opportunity to challenge themselves at a higher level and compete against schools from across Auckland.
