About the School

Te Kura Takawaenga ō Ōtāhuhu

If you're looking for a school with a big heart and a beautiful history in the vibrant community of Otahuhu, you’ve come to the right place.

Established in 1963, our school has been a steady presence in the lives of local families for over 60 years. What began as a fledgling mid-century institution has blossomed into a multi faceted educational hub that continues to inspire and lead.

While our foundations are historic, our spirit is constantly renewing. Over the decades, Otahuhu Intermediate has evolved alongside its people. As the years passed, we embraced our identity as a multicultural powerhouse, becoming a place where Pasifika, Māori, and diverse global heritages weave together to create a unique school "tapestry." Today, we balance our long-standing values of Respect, Personal Responsibility and Passion with 21st-century innovation, ensuring our students are not just learners, but leaders ready for the world.

We aren't just a school between primary and college; we are a bridge, a pathway so to speak. We pride ourselves on being a safe, calm and respectful environment where students are encouraged to find their voice, celebrate their culture, and strive for excellence in everything they do.

At Otahuhu Intermediate, we honour our past while keeping our eyes firmly on the future of our tamariki.
