What is the William Pike Challenge?
The William Pike Challenge is a year-long programme for Year 8 students that encourages them to step outside their comfort zone and grow through three key areas:
Outdoor Adventures – exploring New Zealand’s outdoors and taking on new physical challenges
Community Service – giving back and making a positive difference in the community
Passion Projects – developing personal interests, talents, and goals
Through these experiences, students develop important life skills such as perseverance, teamwork, goal setting, and leadership.
Student Selection
Each year, 20 students will be selected to take part in the programme. Students are chosen based on their commitment, attitude, and willingness to challenge themselves and contribute positively to the school and community.
How to Apply
Year 7 students can apply at the end of the school year to take part in the William Pike Challenge during their Year 8 year. The application process allows students to show their enthusiasm for the programme and their readiness to embrace new challenges and opportunities.
Sponsorship Opportunities
We welcome financial sponsors and community support to help make this programme possible for our students. Sponsorship helps support the costs of outdoor adventures, resources, and opportunities that allow students to fully participate in the William Pike Challenge.
