How we communicate
There are different forms of communication the club uses to provide and gather information from its members. Communication is ongoing through the year as there are many different events, we aim to keep comms to a minimum and efficient as the club understands the huge amount of emails received.
The different forms of communication the club uses are detailed below.
Emails from WCRC
This communication method is used by the club to communicate with parents to organise a variety of important actions, events and important notifications throughout the season. So always keep an eye out for emails from the club.
These are sent regularly and are the main method of communication from the committee to parents. Please create an outlook contact for wcrowing@gmail.com to avoid the emails going to your junk folder.
WC Rowing Website
As you can see our website has a lot of information about the club and about rowing, we hope this is useful to whānau and all members of our club to answer any questions you may have. Please do let us know if you find any inconsistencies in this information by contacting wcrowing@gmail.com
CrewLab App
CrewLab App is a free, all-in-one communication and management platform designed specifically for rowing to support rowers. This will be used by coaches to stay connected through features like event scheduling, team chat, availability tracking, document sharing, and push notifications.
1. Download the App:
- Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Search for “CrewLab”, then tap Install and wait for it to download.
2. Create an Account:

- Make sure to include your mobile number* so we can contact you directly if needed.
3. Find & Join the Team:
- Use the “Find My Team/Club” search function.
- Search for “Wellington College Rowing Club” and request to join.
- Once approved, select the appropriate access groups, e.g., Novice Rowers, Whole Squad, etc.
- If unsure which group to choose, please email: wcrowing@gmail.com.
4. Enable Notifications:
- Turn on push notifications to receive timely updates on schedules, race day alerts, and other important messages.
- The app does have a chat function, and the club is aware that parents prefer to only get notifications from the coaches and ignore other notifications. Below are steps to update the notifications in the app for parents to get focused information from the coaches and minimise the notification noise you deal with. The club will continue its direct comms with parents through emails.
5. Notification Settings
- The following steps are aimed at receiving notifications from coaches only:
- In the top right-hand corner of the app screen, you will see your initial. Select your initial. On the next screen, select the Cog in the top right corner. This will take you to Settings.
- On the Settings screen, select Notification preferences, you will then see Notifications; Here you can change the notifications to 'Coach only' for Team chat, Likes and Comments etc.
- You can also turn off Calendar and Availability to stop receiving notifications that rowers are going to events.
