Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC)
At Te Mahia School, we believe in learning that extends beyond the walls of the classroom. EOTC experiences are designed to provide our ākonga with rich, hands-on opportunities to grow in confidence, strengthen relationships, and develop new skills in real-world settings.
Last year, our senior class embarked on an unforgettable camp in Tauranga. Staying at the Mount Maunganui Beachside Holiday Park, students enjoyed early morning runs up Mauao and sports on the beach just metres from their cabins. Highlights of the camp included a thrilling day at Waimarino Adventure Park, an action-packed challenge at Adrenalin Forest — a high-wire aerial obstacle course set in the forest — and the chance to push boundaries with drift bikes and paintball.
The week was rounded off with a relaxing and fun-filled visit to Baywave Pools. Throughout the camp, our tamariki were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, support one another as a team, and celebrate individual achievements.
This EOTC experience was a powerful reminder of the value of learning through adventure, connection, and challenge.
