Riding for the Disabled
At Te Mahia School, our students have the opportunity to take part in the Riding for the Disabled (RDA) programme, a unique experience that supports the development of confidence, resilience, and wellbeing through horse riding.
This programme helps our tamariki build balance, coordination, and focus, while also encouraging perseverance and a positive mindset when faced with new challenges. Just as importantly, RDA fosters kindness, empathy, and responsibility — values that sit at the heart of our school.
Participation in RDA reflects our commitment to ensuring every child is supported to achieve personal growth and success, both in and out of the classroom. By engaging in this programme, our students live out our values of mana tū (resilience), and mana motuhake (self-determination), while discovering the joy of learning in a meaningful, hands-on way.
