Netball Rotorua Life Members

Netball Rotorua is very grateful to our Life Members, they've all given much to our Centre over many years, and it's only fitting they should be awarded Life Membership.

Our latest Life Member: Uru Clark

A wahine who has dedicated more than 26 years of service to our centre, our players, and our community. To receive this award, a member must first complete 10 years of continuous service to earn a Service Award, and then a further 10 years of commitment to the centre and to the game of netball.

This wahine has not only met those milestones — she has exceeded them many times over. Over the years, Uru has worn many hats: player, supporter, coach, manager, umpire, and often several of these all at once.

Whenever help was needed, she stepped forward. Whenever our centre needed leadership, she offered it. And whenever our players needed someone in their corner, she was always there.

Her contribution to our Rotorua Representative programme has been immense. As part of our Executive Committee, she has:

  • Served on the Representative Committee
  • Acted as a representative selector
  • Coached and managed multiple Rotorua Rep teams
  • Worked with players, coaches, managers, parents, and Netball Rotorua
  • Completed funding applications to ensure our teams can travel and compete
  • Organised transport — vans, buses, flights
  • Coordinated accommodation and travel for teams heading to Taranaki, Christchurch, and Hawke’s Bay
  • Entered every tournament, every season
  • And reported all results back to our Executive Committee

Her work behind the scenes is enormous — and often unseen — but essential to keeping our rep programme strong.

Within the Executive team, she has also carried major responsibilities, including:

  • Vice President
  • Cultural Advisor
  • Representative Committee member
  • Supporting rep funding applications
  • Acting as our pavilion on call liaison with Police, Fire, and Security

Her leadership, her calm presence, and her commitment to our kaupapa have shaped the culture of our centre for decades.

Outside of Netball Rotorua, she is also an active member of Waikite Sports & Rugby Club. Every Saturday, without fail, you’ll find her on the sideline — supporting, coaching, managing, mentoring, and always encouraging her players with that unmistakable voice we can all recognise from a distance.

We acknowledge not just her years, but her heart her loyalty, and her unmatched dedication to the game we all love.

Ngā mihi nui ki a koe, Uru.

Your service has strengthened our centre for more than two decades, and we celebrate you.
