Our excellence awards are presented to a Senior student at our annual Sports Awards.

A selection panel of no less than four individuals involved in Waimea College sport will be assembled to work through the below criteria.

The following general criteria must firstly be met by all nominees:

• The student is an ambassador of Fairplay and a fine representative of Waimea College.
• Where the sport is offered, the student must compete for a Waimea College team.
• The student competes at a senior level.
• Other factors will also be taken into consideration – attendance, character, payment of sports fees.
• Individual and team performances fall within the period of 9^th September – 9^th September. Performances after this period will be considered for the following Sports Awards event.​​​​​​​

These students have competed at a consistently high level in one or more of their chosen sport/s.

It is awarded to a student who has also made significant positive contributions to school sport at the College.

Specifically, performance, skill, commitment, initiative and reliability and is a positive role model for other students.
