West End have proven their dominance in the South Canterbury Centre Pairs with two West End teams battling it out in the final at the Temuka Bowling Club on Sunday.

They have won this event three times in the last four years now. The red-hot favourites for the event, Adrian Robins and Shayne Chisnall played magnificent bowls to reach the final, outplaying their opponents with prestige and skill, while Barrie Andrew's team were scraping through by the skin of their teeth.  Andrews got there with some outstanding bowls especially against Marshall Stoddart and Mick Ross.

The final began and to be fair, the heads weren't as good as earlier games due to the fact they were playing on a rink that hadn't been played on. It was a high scoring game at the start with Andrews and Robins scoring big numbers and after 7 ends Andrews team held lead 11 - 8.  Robins and Chisnall then got their act together and outdrew their opponents, scoring on the next 8 ends to race away with the victory 21 - 11.

In the earlier games the second favourites Marshall Stoddart and Mick Ross played immaculate bowls,  dominating Richie Kerr's team and Aaron Phillips' team with ease. While Robins battled to beat Bruce Wakefield and Dave Kitching in a close game, but Bruce Wakefield kept the team in the game with outstanding play. Robins' team then played formidable bowls against Sean O'Neill and Jarrod Barker, playing a dominant game and packing their bags.

Chisnall also won this event last year playing with Tom Taiaroa when they beat the golden oldies Leo Leonard and Jim Vevers in the final. The win gave Robins his 13th South Canterbury title and Chisnall his 11th.
