The South Canterbury team are in dominating form after winning the Zone 6 Development tournament played in Dunedin over the  weekend.

Bruce Scott was extremely pleased with the team, and how they played and conducted themselves on and off the green. Scott made special mention to the way team captain Gareth Burgess played, and said he was in sensational form over the weekend and lead his team brilliantly.  Burgess' expertise got his team to gel well and got prefect results, winning all five fours games.

Burgess' team of Anthony Holland,  Jason Browning, and Kevin Stuart dominated the opposition. Burgee had special praise for the way his team played and made his job easy.

With the wet conditions the two pairs teams combined to save rinks for other teams and the four of Jarrod Barker,  Paul Brohan, Andrew Bell, and Kieran Aker playing together for the first time had two great wins and three narrow losses to bigger centres. Barker and Brohan tried their best with outstanding bowls but the bigger centres got the better of them. In the singles Nigel Mobberley once again showed his form with four great wins and his only loss was in his last game against Dunedin's young gun 12 year old Jordan McEwan, who has a big future in the game.

Team Captain Gareth Burgess was full of praise for the way Selector and Coach Bruce Scott with John Tyro got his team prepared. Their hours of effort in Development bowls led to impressive results they could enjoy. He also mentioned with this win this has capped off an outstanding season so far with the Development team also winning the Northern Quadrangular earlier in the season.

The South Canterbury Senior Men's team found the going tough in the Zone 6 tournament over the weekend. Like the development teams, they were transferred into the  amazing indoor stadium in Dunedin over the weekend due to atrocious conditions. The organisers gathered their heads together and came up with a format to make sure the event was finished, sharing the complex with development players and playing 90 minute games against each team to find the winner.

After day one the South Canterbury senior team were just two wins off the  pace going into Sunday, but they had to play both big guns Southland then Dunedin in the last game. Southland and Dunedin have had big success over the years winning the intercentre on a number of occasions.

South Canterbury was outplayed by both Centres,  losing all six games.

Aaron Taylor made his debut for the senior team and he  didn't disgrace himself.

Temuka's golden boy and now Black Jacks player Keanu Darby, who now plays for Dunedin, had an outstanding tournament in winning all five games as did the Southland four of Craig Tinker, Thomas Cockerill, Steve Sanders,  and Shane Elliott which is an outstanding effort.
