School boy section - Under the new presidency of Bill Young there was more enthusiasm in the section this year. Dwindling numbers though only saw two full Valley teams with the other boys mixing with the Union Club to make up two other composite teams under Union/Valley. Their main fundraiser was running the canteen for after match food for the senior teams. This was run extremely well with a different variety of food and proved to be very profitable.

Senior Section - This year saw the Senior and the Senior B teams compete for the first time in a full round of rugby with South Canterbury competition. One full round was played and then one full round of local competition with all the points counting for the final four placings in the Citizens Shield play offs. A very successful competition with some teething problems with the two teams not playing at the same venue. The season started off very promising with a win against last seasons South Canterbury Champions Harlquins. This was played under lights in Timaru. A first for Valley. The team went through the South Canterbury competition with a 50/50 record and were second in the North Otago round. Unfortunately they were knocked out in the semi finals for the Citizen Shield. The Senior B team really struggled for numbers earlier on and a crisis meeting was held as to whether the team being withdrawn from the competition. However under the coaching of Ian Gold they continued, numbers increased and they won the Burns Shield as winners of the Senior B competition defeating Excelsior in the final.
