An official celebration was held at queens Birthday weekend with a get together at the Clubrooms on Friday night, all day sport at Weston on Saturday with Netball being played at the Weston Courts, Schoolboy Rugby in the morning and rugby in the afternoon. Premiers defeated Kurow 38-8, Presidents defeated Athletics 77-0A function was held at the Loan and Merc on Saturday night with speeches and Jersey Auction. A special edition jersey was worn by the Premiers and the jerseys auctioned on the night. $10,190 was raised. A BBQ was held at the Clubrooms on Sunday to finish celebrations.
Life Memberships - June Campbell was awarded life membership to the club on the Saturday night. This was in recognition of the 19 years she has been secretary for the club.
Club Members - were very good across all codes. Cricket, Senior, Senior Reserves and 2nd Grade, Junior Registrations 60. The Senior Reserve Second Grade each won their Grades for the 2013 -14 season.
Netball - 8 Senior teams with two in Section 1, Division 1. 60 juniors registered.
Premier - Just enough numbers to get through the season. One of the lightest forward packs in the competition. Finished 4th and made it to the semi-finals. Beaten by Old Boy’s in the semi-final by 16-9. Old Boys went onto win the final. The semi final was played in a mud bath at Whitestone Contracting Stadium.
Presidents - Played in the South Canterbury Competition and made it into the South Canterbury final only to be beaten by the Harliquins. We played Excelsior in the North Otago final and were defeated by a team full of ringins. It seemed that Valley always play by the rules in the finals but opposition teams always seem to find out of town players and ringins on finals day. We had previously played Excelsior 3 times in the competition and beaten them convincingly every time.
JAB - Under the leadership of Steffan Mavor JAB numbers were up with 95 players registered. A good season for all grades. the season ended with a bus trip to the Dunedin Stadium for an Otago vs north Harbour game.
