Cricket - Senior: A Senior and 2nd Grade team played out for the season. The senior team struggled for players in the later part ofthe season but got by with the help of 2nd greade players.
The 2nd grade team again won their competition for the 9th season in a row. A great achievement! They won the holiday competition and the S.P. Dell Cup. Kevin Mansfield scored a century during the season. Molly Loe, a High School girl played for the second grade team in the holiday competition. She was selected forthe otago Womens Cricket Team the Otago Sparks and went on to represent Otago. She also won the North Otago Junior Sports Person of the Year. A young lady with a big future!
Juniors: Leigh Petrie co-ordinated and ran the junior section for the first part of the season and Dean & Louise Paterson took over for the later part. The junior section had very good numbers with a large number representing the club. Valley was the strongest club number wise with over 60 boys and girls registered for the season.
Rugby - Senior: Coached by Ian Gold with Paul Forbes as manager. Valley once again had good numbers and went onto win the competition once again defeating last years Champions Kurow 24-01. Once again it was disjointed season with defaults and Athletic only lasted half a season before pulling out.
Junior: Lead by Dean & Louise Paterson the junior club went from strength to strength with 120 registrations. The great leadership shown by Dean & Louise saw quite a few numbers coming from other clubs to join Valley.
The end of year prizegiving bore testement to this with the clubrooms overflowing and people standing outside.
Unfortunatley there was no JAB Representative Rugby this year owing to a new format by some regions. Quirte dissapointing for the palyers who had nothing higher to strive for.
Premier: Coaches Mike Mavor and Shane Carter lead Valley through another strong season. Numbers were good and there was better laison between the premier and Senior Team. The season began with 3 losses and then the team went through unbeaten until the semi finals and were beaten by Old Boys who they had beaten 3 times previously. Platers selectred for North Otago Heartland Team - Sam Sturgess, Howard Packamn, Jake Greenslade, Matt Vocea, Meli Koninasau. Sam Sturgess was captain, Meli Kolinsau was also selected for the NZ Heartland team as a prop. Third year in a row.
