After 24 years when she took over the position of Club Secretary June Campbell retired from the psoition and Sarah Baker took over. the years of total dedication has been greatly appreciated by the club wit hLife membership awarded to June in 2014.
Cricket - Champions - Valleys 2nd grade again took out the North Otago Championship for the 10th Year in a Row. The Senior Team won the Dick Hunt Trophy for ther holiday season and were semi finalists in the Borton Cup.
Cameron Shultz - tragedy struck the Shultz family and the club when Cameron Shultz was taken in an accident when a lime spreader truck he was driving rolled into a ravine taking his life. Cameron was a well respected and enthusiastic club member playing over 100 premier games for the Club. He has become a member ofthe junior section coaching and referring in the junior grades while still playing premier rugby. This Member will be sadly missed.
COVID-19 - This year was a year when a deadly virus swept through the world. NZ was put into total lockdown in March just when te rugby season was about to start. Play eventually commenced in June in a very shortened season and finished in August 22nd with the Citizens Shield played at Centenial Park with a very reduced crowd owing to the threat of the virus.
Junior Rugby - This again was under the leadership of Dean and Lousie Paterson and what a magnificent job they did. We had 105 junior players registered - by far the largest numbers of any club. It was a somewaht fustration saeson for them with disruptions owing to COVID-19 Restrictions and sheer incompetence from other clubs.
Senior Rugby - Champions
Anothe disointed season for some seniors under the coaching of ian Gold. Only 3 clubs entered a team, Valley, Unio and Kurow. partway through Kurow defaulted leaving only Union and Valley. The final was played at Ngapara. At full time it was a 17 all draw. In extra time Valley won 23-20 to again become Champions for 2020.
Premier - Champions - A shortened but very successful season under the coaching skills of Mike mavor and Shane Carter. The team featured some very young players. 2 straight from school and our 2 locks only 18 years old., To get to the final we played Old Boys who we beat to make the semisand Kurow in the semi final who we beat 21-19.. The final was played against Maheno in front of a very reduced crowd of only 100 spectators due to COVID-19. Valley trailed to maheno at half timebut went onto claim the Citizens Shied at full time by 22-19. Mike and Shane indicated they would be stepping down as coaches in the 2021 season. A milestone was Mike Mavors success - 4 Citizen Shield wina as a player and 2 wins as a coach.
Netball - Champions
5 teams were entered in the Premier Grade under the leadership of Mikayla Cleveland. Valley Karaka (Valley Gold) took out the Championship defeating Maheno 39-37 in the final.
