Highlanders vs Crusaders - This year got underway with Valley having the priviledge to host the Highlanders vs Crusaders playing for the Farmlands Cup. Highlanders 20- Crusaders 19. This was a big occasion for the club with a crowd of upto 3000 expected but COVID-19 struck NZ again and large gatherings weren’t allowed so the game was played with no spectators except officials and helpers. We did organise a corporate dinnerand auction at the Loan & merc which was a great success. The crowd was limited from 300 to 150 but the auction and ticket sales still brought in $18,000. Still a great occasion for the club - A great part of this success went to Hamish Loe who organised and liased the whole event.
Cricket - The 2021-22 season saw a second grade and senior team once again play. The seniors made it to the semi finals but were beaten. The 2nd grade team played WBHS in their final comfortably winning and were crowned champions.
Junior Cricket - Geoff mavor was at the helm for this years junior season and once again their were large numbers of players and teams competing.
Senior Rugby - A very short season with only 4 teams again. We were low on numbers but competed all season but with a disjointed competition and it was hard to keep players interested.
Premier rugby - Good numbers and a very tight and evenly contested cometition. We made it to the semi-finals bur went down to Old Boys
100 Premier Games - Jake Greenslade & Hayden Gold
Netball - a very disruptive season with COVID-19 and wet weather. Valley made it to the final but were beaten by Maheno.
