JAB - Again on increase in numbers with Valley being the strongest club in North Otago. President Gary Marsh

Senior - Coaches - Graham Smith and Craig Cottier

Once again a very disruptive season with Maheno and Old Boys  pulling their teams out through lack of numbers. This left only 2 Athes teams and Valley in a meaningless season. Valley played Athies Colts in a semi final as expected the Athetic team was stacked with ring ins and Premier players and Valley bowed out gracefully for the season.

Premier - Coaches - John Schultz, Ross McCulloch, Manager - Duncan Taylor

The season started with concerns about the shortage of players but a number of new players to the area bolstered numbers and a large squad was assembled. All North Otago Premier teams played a round in the Otago Premier Division 2 Competition at the beginning of the season with Valley being successful to make it to the final playing Excelsior on Carisbrook only to lose 15-12. Two rounds of the Citizens Shield with a good season only losing two games before the semi finals. We played Excelsior who had beaten us in the previous game and won 54-34 so it was into the final. We played Athletic in the final and won 14-12 in a very close encounter. A try to blind side flanker Dave Smith and 3 penalties completed the scoring. This was Valleys 4th Championship win in the 20 year period since forming the club.

Another highlight for 2009 was playing a game at Enfield to celebrate the Old Enfield Clubs 50th reunion. They played Kurow and won 34-5. The game was played in front of a large crowd and Valley was decked out in the colours Green and white which were the Enfield  Clubs playing colours. At the clubs celebrations the jerseys were auctioned at the dance night with ex-Enfield players bidding on jerseys and $6400 was raised.

Fundraising - An ongoing function of the club - a motorcross was again held and once again inclement weather curtailed the event. The event went ahead with the course shortened from 40km to 17km and in spite of the conditions we still had 180 bikes with about $6000 raised. And with raffles, social functions, and club nights funds for the 2009 season were reasonably healthy.
