JAB - An increase in numbers, President Steffan Mavor
Senior - Coached by Kelvin and Paul Forbes. A season which started out with five teams but Old Boys and Excelsior pulled out leaving just Kurow, Athletic and ourselves. We had good numbers with several players filling in for the Premiers. We went through the season unbeaten and then left their last game of the season to play a shocker going down to Kurow 21-7 in the Burns Shield final.
Premier - Coaches Mike Mavor, Shane Carter and Hamish Lowe. We were a bit light on players owing to a string of early season injuries but the senior team was a great back-up. Dan Lewis arrived from England and played at 1st five. A player with a big future. He scored 173 point for the season, The highest point scorer by a long way in the North Otago Competition but wasn’t rewarded by the N.O.F.U. That award going to an Old Boys Player. We made it to the Citizens Shield Final. We were the only team to beat Old Boys in the season but went down 20-13 in the final. There were a lot of English players in the Club teams. Up to five in one team. These players were brought out by the N.O.F.U. Valley had one. This is a reflection of the shaky position some teams are in for players and Valleys Policy for having a good player base over the years and looking after those players paid off.
The end of year social was held at the Loan and Merc with 130 in attendance.
