Life members - 2 new life members were introduced to the Club - Tony Fox and Ian Gold - both have given stirling service to the club. Tony was first a member of the Senior B Team, Ian first a member ofthe Senior Team.
Dean Paterson lost his battle with a brain tumor on 9th Feb after a 7 year battle at the age of 42. Dean was a most valued and respected membert of the club. He played in all grades of Rugby for the Club from under 5’s premier. he played more than 100 p;remier games and represented North Otag from junior grades to NPC. He also played senior cricket for Valley and in the later years 2nd grade.
ALong with his wife Louise they ran both junior rugby and cricket for 3 years and in that time built up numbers considerably. Dean is survived by his wife Louise and three children Cash, Milly & Edie. Occupation - Police Officer
Senior Rugby - Good numbers were fielded for the season under the coaching of Ian Gold. They made it to the semi final only to be beaten by 2 points to Union.
Premier Rugby - Barry Mathews ad John Clunie coached the premiers through an unbeaten season accumulating in winning the Citizens Shield. 11 games played, 11 won scoring 413 points and conceeding 191. This was a remarkable result considering they only had a core of 14 players but with the help of the the players from the Senior Team were able to field a full team each day. The Citizens Shield final went right into the fianl seconds as inthe last play of the match Valley were awarded a scrum 5 metres out and a push over try by Cameron Rowland secured the win. Trie scoreres Cameron Rowland 2, Jake Greenslade 1, Isaac Clunie 1, Clunie 3 Conversions.
Final score Valley 26- Excelsior 23
Senior Netball - Had 4 teams, Valley Karaka, Koru, Rimu and Kowhai.
Vallety Karaka won their final beating Maheno 32-22 making the Club Double Champions for the Year.
Junior Netball - 7 teams of 59 registered players
The Season concluded with a social and Prizegiving in the Clubrooms.
Highlanders Game - We has another chance to host the Farmlands Club wit ht Highanaders beating the Crusaders . A it was a great crowwd of over 3000 people with an amazing looking field. Valley volunteers showed up in armies and it was a huge success. We also hosted a dinner and Auction. Between the two a phanonimal amount was raised for the club somewhere around $40,000
